Isfield v Firle I - Last game in 2007
Isfield won the toss and elected to field, Firle got of to a good start with Richard Gravett (26) the first wicket to fall with the score on 52. David Proud (84) and Chris Hulbert (63) then put on a second wicket stand of 125 to see Firle well on their way to a good score and although wickets did fall late on Firle were able to declare on 232 for 4 of just 40 overs. D Williams the main wicket taker finishing with 3 for 26.
In reply Isfield lost a few early wickets but J Healey (82) kept the innings going and when he finally departed Isfield were well on the way to holding out for a draw, and after some poor bowling and fielding by Firle this was the case as Isfield finished on 178 for 6 with R Goodyear scoring a rapid 29 at the end. The pick of the Firle bowling was Mark Rowlands finishing with 3 for 22.
A special mention should be given to Laurie Kemp, who after playing cricket for Firle for the last 50 years retired after the match.
The 'Newick Tandoori' man of the match was David Proud.
